In this program, you will not only learn how to make a perfect espresso and other classic espresso-based drinks such as latte, cappuccino and macchiato, but also how to brew coffee using different techniques from around the world.

One of the most fascinating aspects of coffee is that it has different meanings and traditions in different cultures. For example, in some parts of the Middle East and the Balkans, coffee is prepared in a small pot called a dzezva, which is heated over a fire or a stove. The coffee grounds are boiled with water and sugar, and then served in small cups with a thick layer of foam on top. This method produces a strong and aromatic coffee that is often enjoyed with sweets or dates.

Another popular way of brewing coffee is using a French press, which is a simple device that consists of a glass or metal container with a plunger and a metal filter. The coffee grounds are placed in the container, hot water is poured over them, and then the plunger is pressed down to separate the liquid from the grounds. The result is a smooth and rich coffee that can be adjusted to your taste by changing the amount of coffee, water and brewing time.

A more modern and innovative method of making coffee is using an Aeropress, which is a device that looks like a large syringe with a filter at the bottom. The coffee grounds are placed in the filter, hot water is added, and then the plunger is pushed down to force the water through the grounds and into a cup. The Aeropress produces a smooth and clean coffee that has less acidity and bitterness than other methods.

One of the most elegant and artistic ways of brewing coffee is using a Chemex, which is a glass vessel with an hourglass shape and a wooden collar. The coffee grounds are placed in a cone-shaped filter that fits on top of the vessel, hot water is poured over them in a circular motion, and then the coffee drips into the lower part of the vessel. The Chemex produces a clear and flavorful coffee that highlights the nuances of different beans and roasts.

As you can see, there are many ways to enjoy coffee beyond the espresso machine. On our Professional Barista School program, you will learn how to master all these methods and more, as well as how to select, grind and store your beans, how to taste and evaluate different coffees, and how to create your own signature drinks. Whether you want to pursue a career as a barista or simply improve your skills as a home brewer, our program will give you the knowledge and confidence you need to make great coffee every time.
